The Aging Prison Population and Healthcare

Health

Rodlescia Sneed, PhD, MPH, Assistant Professor in the Wayne State University Institute on Aging discusses the aging prison population both locally in Detroit and nationwide. She addresses the issues this often overlooked population faces, why there is such an increase in the aging population, criminal justice laws, chronic disease, and what is being done to improve the situation.

Dr. Sneed's expertise is in biopsychosocial models of health, community-engaged research, and chronic disease. Her work engages community and institutional stakeholders to identify and improve upon factors that contribute to inequities in health and well-being among mid and late-life adults.

Her Research Project Title is: The Social and Psychological Determinants of Health and Aging Research Group (The SHARE Group) -
