CapTel Captioned Phones

CapTel Captioned Phones

Hearing and Seeing

CapTel phones and CTS (Captioned Telephone Service) allows those who are deaf, hard of hearing, or 'late-deafened' to not only listen to the caller's voice, but read everything that is being said through written captions.  Jennifer Weallans of OEIUS.org, is a specialist in providing captioned phones for hearing loss, and those who experience difficulty hearing over the phone.

CapTel Captioned phones are amplified phones that also have close captions, similar to your television screen. These phones are extremely helpful, especially where the volume on a phone is inadequate. With severe hearing loss, it is easy to misconstrue words during a phone conversation - close captions remedy this problem.

Ideal for people with hearing loss, the Captioned Telephone, or CapTel, works like any other telephone with one important addition: It displays every word the caller says throughout the conversation. CapTel phone users can listen to the caller, and can also read the written captions in the CapTel’s bright display window. Set up can be as easy as connecting a phone line and plugging it in! CapTel can work with your high-speed internet service - they will help you select the right phone for your home or office.

There are different types of phones available. With your personal doctor/audiologist’s certification, you may qualify for a no-cost CapTel Captioned Telephone and they will deliver and install it for you.
