The Early Riser

Rose Cooper Reflects

When I wake up around 6:00 a.m., my first thought is - why?  I am wide awake, no going back to bed.

My second thought is, "what am I going to do this early in the morning?" I look at my planner first.  Do I have to rush for an appointment or can I decide my choices for the morning.  I can sit at my desk, pay my bills, write to a friend, or start a new project.

I could read my book, the latest, buy my eyes begin to close at 6:00 a.m. - or any time I am reading a book.  I have to frequently go back a page.

I am now having breakfast, after taking my morning pills (sound familiar?), I realize it's 7:30 a.m.  When did that happen? I am ready for my Starbucks coffee (great Keurig), and my usual toast or bagel, sometime with peanut butter and jelly, or just butter. Whole grain bread, of course.

Never eggs first thing in the morning, does anyone agree? I save my eggs for lunch.

So, now the day can really begin.  It's 9:30 a.m. and my Detroit News and Detroit Free Press must be at my door.  Like magic, until the bill comes.

Am I boring you yet?

Unless I have to rush, I can hold off the shower, (I did brush my teeth), and stay in my pajamas for another hour.

I can turn on the T.V. now and get the latest news, hoping that something positive can be shown.  I watch very little television, the ads are on more often than the newscaster is!  I turn it off.

My day has begun.

P.S. -  Truthfully written before breakfast when my thoughts came up with a new project.

P.S.S -  Lines on paper! My pen slipped when my eyes closed for a second!
